10 passengers kidnapped in M-5 highway attack

Armed Dacoits launched an attack late Wednesday night on the M-5 motorway near Bhong Sharif, opened fire on passing vehicles, injured more people and abducted at least 10 passengers and truck crew members.

According to police, a group of heavily armed Dacoits attacked the highway near Bhong and fired without discriminating against each vehicle that crossed their path. More cars, two passenger trainers and more trucks and trailers came under fire.

A woman and a child were among four people who were critically wounded and moved to Sheikh Zayed Hospital, Rahim Yar Khan.

Over a dozen vehicles sustained serious damage, with many tires burst during the assault.

The motorway police suspended temporary traffic near Guddu exchange and service areas as security forces responded to the attack. Traffic was recovered later in the day after improved security installation.

Police sources confirmed that attackers fled against the river “Kacha” areas after the firing. Several trucks were left abandoned on the highway where their crew was missing.

Eyewitnesses said Dacoits abducted about 10 people with gun.

The incident comes days after Rahim Yar Khan police completed drone strikes at the hiding place for the notorious one -gang in the Kacha area. After the operation, gang leader Tanveer had sent threats in a video message.

Police have registered a case at Bhong Police Station on the complaint of Nawazabad Checkpost Incharge.

A search operation has been launched, although the authorities have so far refrained from making a detailed statement.

Regional police officer Rai Babar Saeed has reached Rahim Yar Khan to oversee the situation.

Earlier on January 14, armed gangsters from the BAGBAND launched a deadly attack on Basti Lashai in the Zahir Pir area of ​​Rahim Yar Khan, who targeted relatives of Osman Chandia, a police informant.

The attack, reportedly a revenge attack for the death of the infamous gangster Janu, left, left four people died, including three teenage boys.

Police said the man -band carried out the assault to avenge the killing of their leader, Janu, who was removed in a hidden police operation in July 2021 with Osman Chandia’s assistance.

Included had been implicated in the murders of over 10 police officers and civilians, including a mass derailure of nine family members of Rahim Yar Khan’s Mahi Chowk in 2021.

The deceased included Osman Chandia’s uncle, Zaman yellow and three young cousins ​​- Sajan, Madni and Guddu, who were brothers.
