Karachi:
A massive Pakistani flag of 10,000 square meters, specially prepared in Karachi for YouM-E-Takbeer, has been sent to Lahore, where it will be hoisted at the Wagah border opposite the Indian tricolor on a 110 foot-high pole. The flag surpasses the size of the previous national flag, which has flown in the same place with 400 square meters.
The preparation of this monumental flag was part of the festivities that marked the historic victory for Operation Bonyan al-Marsous and the national pride associated with May 28, YouM-E-Takbeer.
The complicated production process spans two weeks at a factory in Karachi’s Korangi area, where about 25 qualified workers worked day and night at sewing and assembly.
After the first treatment at the factory, various materials were moved to Hill Park (near Tariq Road), where the crescent and the star were drawn, cut and sewn on the massive green canvas.
Park visitors were drawn to the unusual sight and were seen taking selfies with the huge flag and engaging in the flag -making team to learn more about the process.
In a talk with Express News, Sheikh Nisar Parachamwala from VIP Flag Company said: “With this flag we break our own record. The previous national flag was hoisted against Wagah measured 9,600 square meters; this is about 10,000 square meters.” He added that the most critical and technical phase of the process was to cut crescent and star – a task that requires extreme precision and crafts to ensure perfect curves and angles.
