Karachi:
A Karachi Court on Tuesday awarded guarantee to 12 workers in Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI), which was detained on charges of rebellion, stone pelvis and attacking police during a protestrally in the Metropolis on August 5.
The judicial magistrate for District East approved guarantee care, which was filed by defense attorneys and ordered the release of the defendants against bail bonds of RS5,000 each. Previously, the police had produced the defendant before the court and sought their physical custody for further interrogations.
According to the investigative officer (IO), the PTI workers had blocked the road under a rally led by senior party leaders, including Firdous Shamim Naqvi, Awab Alvi and Raja Azhar, on Hassan Square.
IO claimed that the protest became violent when the defendant pelted stones by law enforcement and attacked them with sticks and wounded a police officer identified as Aijaz.
IO requested physical custody of the defendants for verification of criminal items and added that several other suspects were still largely.
