A bomb explosion near a police car in Quetta’s double -way area killed at least two people and wounded 17 people, including four police officers, according to local authorities.
Police said the explosion caused damage to the police vehicle as well as nearby cars and motorcycles. Rescue teams quickly arrived at the stage and transported the wounded to a local hospital.
A spokesman for the Balochistani government confirmed that the security forces had closed the area and that an investigation was underway. No fatal accidents were immediately reported.
No group has so far assumed responsibility for the incident.
Quetta, the capital of Balochistan Province, has often seen attacks targeting security forces in the midst of a wider uprising in the region.
