27 wounded as track failure derailing two trains

Khanewal:

At least 27 passengers were injured when two trains – Awam Express and Musa Pak Express – encountered a track error while running between Khanewal and Mian Channu.

According to commuters, most of the wounded wounds suffered on their arms and fingers.

Rescue 1122 Teams immediately provided first aid to the victims upon their arrival at the Khanewal Station.

While the exact cause of the incident remains indefinite, passengers reported that those sitting near the doors and the windows were most affected by the effect.

According to sources, some unidentified persons had allegedly tried to steal a signal ladder installed along the railway track. Although they failed to loosen it completely, the ladder was abandoned incorrectly is believed to be the probable cause of the accident.

Pakistan Railways registered a total of 45 train-related incidents in the first six months of 2025, elaborating the concerns of the sustained security and infrastructure challenges across the National Railway Network.
