More than 30 suspected terrorists were killed when an improvised explosion device (IED) they gathered inside a mosque in the Bajaur district went Thursday. The incident came hours after at least 15 suspected terrorists were removed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in southern Waziristan districts, officials and sources of Express Pakinomist told.
Sources said terrorists from the forbidden Tehreek-E-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) used a mosque in the remote Hilki Charmang area in Bajaur, where security forces are involved in an terrorist operation.
The terrorists prepared an IED for a larger attack on security forces that accidentally spread, which brought the whole structure down.
The blast killed more than 30 terrorists on the scene and their bodies were buried under the rubble. Sources said the TTP Terrorists – officially appointed as Khawarij – used the mosque as a base for their terrorist activities in the remote region along the border with Afghanistan. Local officials confirmed the incident and said investigations were underway.
Elsewhere in the fleeting tribal area, at least 15 suspected terrorists became a suicide bomber-killed and several others wounded under a major IBO in the Azam Warsak area of South Waziristan late Wednesday night.
Security forces carried out the raid based on an intelligence agency about the presence of suspected terrorists near Karamzi stop in Birmal Tehsil from South Waziristan, sources of Express Pakinomist told. The suspects were gathered in the Karamzai Khail mosque, from which the committed security forces in heavy excerpt.
The suspected terrorists suffered major losses in the firefighter, sources also said, adding that a mop-up operation was underway in the areas.
While the fighting was underway, two mortar shells landed in a nearby locality, leaving two men, like many women, and four underage girls injured. They were rushed to the Wana Headquarters Hospital, where medicine said their condition was stable.
In the nearby North Waziristan district, two men – a police constable and a tribal youth – were killed in separate targeted attacks, spreading panic among the local population.
In the first event, guns opened fire on constable Shoaib, which was deployed at Mir Ali Chowk near Mir Ali Bazaar, around noon. The assailants who were driving on a vehicle sprayed the policeman with bullets and killed him on the spot. The body of Shoaib, a resident of Girdai Dosali, was moved to Mir Ali-headquarters hospital for Medico-legal formalities.
In the second event, guns abducted a young man from Mir Ali. After two hours, his bullet-driven body was discovered in an abandoned house near the Ahmadullah mosque. Although his identity could not be officially confirmed, sources claimed he belonged to the Bajaur Tribal District.
No group has immediately assumed responsibility for the targeted killings. Police registered separate cases and launched investigation.
The father of the martyred policeman said his son had dressed the police uniform to serve the people, but was targeted in broad daylight. He demanded that the Government and the KP Ministry of Police ensure that his son’s victim did not go in vain and that the murderers were brought to court.
The local tribe Elder Malik Abdul Rauf said that events with target murder had become routine, leaving tribal men vulnerable. “The government has to take strict measures to restore peace,” he demanded.
Social activist Arif Khan complained that streets and bazaars had gone to kill fields and warned that if the situation was continuing, the local population would be forced to migrate.
