A new study conducted by BICS has proposed eSIM attention in the UK is quite low, with only 18% of respondents claiming to have used the technology.
However, when respondents were made aware of the benefits of an eSIM for international journey, more than half (56%) said they would consider using an eSim to avoid roaming fees.
Interessant nok, af de 2.100 undersøgte britiske voksne, svarede 31%, at de ville købe en ESIM fra en detailhandler eller et rejsefirma. Non-television has already begun to exploit this trend, but consumer knowledge is low, with 41% unsure if their phone supports an eSIM.
The study also suggests that although eSIM attention is low, the demand for ESIMs is increasing with consumers looking for cost-effective ways of traveling.
“ESIMS is a game-changing option for brands across travel, retail and beyond. Consumers are actively looking for cost-effective connection, and non-traditional providers with strong customer base are in a primary position to meet this requirement,” noted Surash Patel, Chief Revenue Officer for Proximus Global.
Vi har set en betydelig tilstrømning af nye ESIM’er på markedet, hvor ikke-traditionelle spillere fører anklagen. NordVPN launched Saily Esim for business in September 2024. Shortly after, ExpressVPN announced his entry into the eSIM market with the launch of Holiday.com.
“With the right approach, companies can easily unlock new revenue streams and improve customer loyalty by integrating eSIM into their offerings,” Patel said.
