A Nigerian national arriving from Bahrain at Lahore Airport had 35 capsules filled with cocaine seized from his stomach.
According to a anti-Narcotics Force (anf) spokesman, medicines were worth over RS 381 million, a total of 406.98 kg, seized in various operations.
Eight people, including foreign nationals and a woman, were arrested for their commitment to drug trafficking and smuggling.
In an operation near Islamabad on the M-1 motorway, a woman was arrested with 4.8 kg of opium and 7.2 kg of hashish.
In another operation on the same highway, 8.4 kg of hashhish was found hidden in a car and two suspects were arrested. In a third operation, a passenger bus was also sought and 2.4 kg of hash was recovered from a passenger.
In a separate incident in Mansehra, 450 grams of hashish were seized from a suspect near a university.
In Balochistan, 360 kg of hashhish was found in the deserted area of Pishin, and 21.6 kg of hash was extracted from a vehicle’s hidden space near Peshawar.
Cases under the law of anti-narcotics are filed against the arrested individuals and studies are underway.
Last month, anf fioled several drug smuggling trials, grabbing almost 28 kg of drugs worth over RS10 million in a number of operations across the country.
Two suspects have been arrested with investigation in progress.
According to an anf spokesman, the crashes on drug trafficking continue, especially around educational institutions and central transport nodes.
Authorities are targeted at both domestic and international smuggling networks.
In Peshawar, a suspect was arrested near a university with 2 kg of cannabis, which he admitted was intended for sale to students.
