We are in a slightly strange place in the streaming world this week (August 18-24). When summer and winter begin to settle in the northern and southern hemispheres, the world’s best streaming services appear to withhold their greatest releases for the last few months of the year.
That is not to say that there are no new movies and TV shows to catch over the next few days. From a popular HBO Max show that makes its long -over -due return, to three interesting offers from Netflix, you are sure to find something worth watching with our help. So read on to see what’s new. – – Tom Power, Senior Entertainment Reporter
Peacemaker Season 2 (HBO MAX)
Look at
Everyone’s favorite DC cartoon book Anti-Hero is back. Peacemaker – real name Chris Smith – is back on our screens after three and a half years for his second excursion on Warner Bros Discovery’s recently redirected streamer. This time, the titular character stumbles over a parallel world where life is all he wants he could be. Oh, and he is chased by Rick Flag Sr., the newly installed leader of Argus and the father of the man Fredsmaker killed in the 2021s Suicide Squad.
Section 1 is out now – Read my Peacemaker Season 2 Release Plan Guide to see where you can stream it outside the US and when new items are released. Before you see it, check out my Peacemaker Season 2 Guide for More Details on its Role Crew and Plot among other things and mine Peacemaker Season 2 review to see what I thought about its first five chapters. – – TP
Hostage (Netflix)
Look at
Suranne Jones as British Prime Minister? If I woke up tomorrow and it was real life I would be composed. Instead, she plays fictional leader Abigail Dalton in the New Netflix series HostageWhere she is facing her country first while dealing with the sudden abduction of her medical man in French Guiana. To finish it all, her planned visit with French President Toussaint (Julie Delpy) is not swimming … especially when she also starts to be blackmailed.
I can’t think of a time we’ve seen two female world leaders coexist like this one, so much less work together to overthrow the tests that a patriarchal system consistently exposes them to. I am undoubtedly in my mind that Jones would turn this out of the park and I hope this is the start of her rise to the global star status, just as Sarah Lancashire experienced in Happy Valley. – – Jasmine Valentine, entertainment writer
Eenie Meanie (Hulu/Disney+)
Look at
Ready or not The star Samara Weaving leads the role of this new Hulu and Disney+ deals that see her play the role of a troubled escape driver. However, we follow her as she is withdrawn in a life of crime when a former employer reveals that they have been given an opportunity to save her “chronically unreliable” ex-boyfriend.
This Heist movie sounds perfect if you’re looking for an action flick this weekend, but we’ll have to wait and see what critics think about it first before we can even recommend it. – – Lucy Buglass, Senior Entertainment Writer
Road to a Million Season 2 (Prime Video)
Look at
While most people watched Squid games: The challenge With bait breath (and to be fair, so I was), so I Brian Cox make his best ‘m’ impression on prime videos underrated reality -tv -show 007: Road to a million. That said, given how expensive it was to do, I am surprised that another season was green.
Nevertheless, I am not yet watching a competitive series on par with this. We have all wanted to take a stab on being James Bond. Fortunately, we get to experience it from the security of our couch while James from Wigan screams his head and tries to win some money. This Amazon TV original only gets more unhinged from there, so strap in. – – JV
Long story short (Netflix)
Look at
Bojack Horseman Is one of the best Netflix shows and a personal favorite of me so you can imagine how excited I am with co-creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg’s new show Long story short. The adult animation series centers on a Jewish family in the middle class and more specifically three siblings as they experience everyday events while looking back at their very religious childhood.
Given Bojack Were equal parts of fun and devastating, I’ve already filled with tissues this weekend. It has already been renewed in another season, so there will be much more to enjoy in the future. – – Lb
Invasion season 3 (Apple TV+)
Look at
Out of the five new Apple TV+ exhibitions released in August, Invasion Season 3 is the most underrated. But that does not mean that I am not excited about its arrival – not least because we are ready to learn the true intentions of the enemy foreigners who have invaded the earth.
There have been theories of the extraterrestrial ‘constant attacks throughout the Apple TV+ Sci-Fi saga, but this season is finally promising to give us answers. Creator Simon Kingberg has confirmed that we will see the protagonists united in a “low -key Avengers” story, so I expect a climate showdown.
So far, Invasion has seen mixed answers because of its slowly burned pace, but many agree that last season greatly improved on the first, which puts Apple TV original’s third season in good condition to be a world -saving (or or ending) view. – – Amelia Schwanke, senior entertainment editor
The truth about Jussie Smollett? (Netflix)
Look at
Before 2019, Jussie Smollett was known for her roles in shows like Empire And movies like The mighty ducksBut has since made headlines after being accused of staging a hate crime.
The real case has more turns than a Spanish soap opera, but it has not prevented Netflix from moving on with a 90-minute documentary about the case. The truth about Jussie Smollett? will bring us interviews with police, lawyers, journalists, investigators and Jussie herself to get the story straight, which does this the Best way to get the (hopefully) true story on the alleged false story. – – SEAM
