Blockchain Sleuth Zachxbt revealed a high -profile social engineering attack on Thursday, with the victim losing 783 BTC worth about $ 91.4 million.
The fusure took place on August 19 and involved the striker who posed as a support agent for a hardware design book before he duped the victim to transfer wallet information.
The attack mirrors a number of social engineering attacks in the past year and contributes to an already unhappy year with regard to hacks and fraud, with cryptoinvestors losing $ 3.1 billion in the first half of 2025.
Once the malicious transfer was made, the funds began their journey through a typical money laundering process, with multiple deposits made to Wasabi design book, a privacy tool that is often used to obscure the path.
