In a surprising turn, Pakistan has gained advantage and influence in Washington in recent months, despite President Donald Trump’s re -election last November, triggering deep concern in Islamabad, where officials feared strained relations in the future.
During his first period, Trump Favored New Delhi while accusing Islamabad of “Deception” and of giving safe haven to “terrorists” – a claim that Pakistan has categorically rejected.
After a recent serious military confrontation between India and Pakistan for decades-the nuclear armed neighboring countries have undergone a striking role reversal, Washington Post reported.
Currently, the US -India relationship is at the lowest level, strained by rising merchant tensions and an increasingly personal spat between President Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
On the other hand, Pakistani officials have quietly and successfully navigated Trump’s political world, creating closer ties to the White House at a moment of global upheaval.
In August, Chief of Army Staff (Coas) visited Field Marshal Asim Munir USA for the second time within a period of only two months, highlighting the strengthening ties between Islamabad and Washington. The army chief described his recent visits to the United States as “a sign of a new dimension” in the relationship.

The statement emphasized that the US delegation included Zachary Witkoff, son of Steve Witkoff, New York Property Developer, who now served as Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East.
The US -Pakistan relationship was gaining momentum in May, analysts said: When the president announced that his administration had broken a ceasefire between India and Pakistan after days of military escalation.
Islamabad officials were quick to give Trump credit and announced that they would nominate him at the Nobel Peace Prize.
However, India denied that the American mediation had sealed the ceasefire, which contributed to the falling between Trump and Modi.
“President Trump leaned over his relationship with both India and Pakistan to secure a ceasefire in a deadly conflict that could have been nuclear without his commitment,” the White House said in his statement to The post.
Weeks after the ceasefire, Trump Field invited Marshal Munir to have lunch with him in the White House – a very unusually private meeting between a US president and a foreign military chief, as well as a tacit recognition of Coas Munir’s growing threat.
