Our favorite mini-PC manufacturer, Minis Forum, has revealed its upcoming Mini WorkStation, MS-S1 Max.
As a growing number of Mini -PCs, the new release is built around AMDS Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 processor, part of the Strix Halo family, offering 16 Zen 5 core and integrated Radeon 8060S graphics.
What is interesting, however, is the processor here, which will reportedly run up to 160W, which is higher than most Strix Halo Mini -PCs that top at 120W. To keep temperatures under control, the system uses a double-fan cooling design paired with six heating pipes.
Double USB4 V2 ports
There are a few other features that separate the MS-S1 max from each other. It includes a full PCIe X16 slot that allows users to install a discreet GPU. This means that the system can be configured as a compact workstation or scaled to AI workloads that require more power.
MS-S1 MAX SPORTS also double USB4 V2 ports, each capable of 80 Gbps transfer speeds. This puts it on par with Thunderbolt 5 in terms of bandwidth, while the well-known USB-C form factor.
Alongside this, the mini-forum includes double 10 GB ethernet ports for high-speed networks.
Power is handled by an internal 320W high efficiency supply that is certified for security. As it is integrated, users need only a single cable connection, which keeps the setup simple.
The chassis design supports tool-free access with a slip-out construction that makes upgrades and maintenance much easier-something we always look for a good mini-PC.
The Minis Forum says that MS-S1 MAX can work in desktop setups or as part of rack-mounted clusters, making it possible to connect multiple devices to shared computer tasks.
The company notes that the MS-S1 MAX is designed for AI workloads. It is described as supporting large models up to 109B parameters.
Not all specifications have been revealed – there is no mention of memory or storage capacity in promotional material, although we have previously seen tips on a possible 128 GB AI MAX+ 395 Beast, which is likely to be this one.
There is also no word at the moment in terms of pricing or global availability.
