- iPhone 17 -Prices have again been predicted
- Most models are likely to see a price rise
- IPhone 17 may cost the same as iPhone 16
With the iPhone 17 launch just a few days away, the leaks and rumors around Apple’s flagship phones continue from 2025 and a new analyst report focuses on the very careful topic how much these handsets actually cost.
According to Trendforce (via macumors), several price increases are coming compared to last year’s models – although the iPhone 17 will apparently start at the same price as the iPhone 16 did, which is $ 799 for the model with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB of storage.
Trendforce only refers to the US market, but the prices of the UK and Australia started £ 799 and AU $ 1,399 respectively. If the US prices are stored the same, it is plausible (but by no means certain) that they will also be resolved internationally.
The same report says the new iPhone 17 air, starting with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, costs $ 1,099 and up. That’s significantly more than the iPhone 16 Plus it replaces, which had a starting price of $ 899 / £ 899 / AU $ 1,599 – although it was for 8 GB RAM and 128 GB of storage.
More for your money
On the more expensive models: iPhone 17 Pro is expected to start at $ 1,199, up from $ 999 / £ 999 / AU $ 1,849 last year with iPhone 16 Pro. However, the 2025 model is expected to offer 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage to begin with rather than 8 GB/128 GB.
It’s a similar story with the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The iPhone 16 Pro Max started at $ 1,199 / £ 1,199 / AU $ 2,149 for 256 GB storage space, but the 2025 model is expected to up to $ 1,299 – albeit with 12 GB RAM inside instead of 8 GB (and the same 256 GB storage).
Even taking into account the RAM and storage considerations, the bottom line is that the price of access for most of the iPhone 17 models is higher than for their predecessors – perhaps a consequence of US customs.
Earlier rumors had pointed to prices that either rose or kept stable, so there is still plenty of uncertainty here. We know the figures for sure when Apple reveals these phones on Tuesday, September 9, starting at 1 p.m. Stop all the latest through our live blog and find out how to look online.
