Dera Ismail Khan:
Jui-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has claimed that in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) there is not only a government crisis, but the existence of the provincial government itself has become “meaningless”.
In a speech with journalists in Dera Ismail Khan on Friday, FAZL accused the government of abandoning citizens of the circumstances. “The government has left people by fate, but we can’t leave the public alone,” he said.
When he remembers the struggles that the people of KP are facing, the Jui leader said the residents had carried “unbearable burdens” in the pursuit of peace and cooperation with state institutions. From Bajaur to South Waziristan, millions were forced to leave their homes and businesses, while thousands of families were displaced over cities from Peshawar to Karachi.
However, despite such “timeless victims”, peace remained evasive in the province. Fazl accused that the state had failed in its basic responsibility to protect life, property and honor.
“It is tragic that the state has the capacity to provide security, but instead chooses to ignore citizens’ survival while chasing his own goals. This approach does not even serve the interests of the country,” he warned.
Answering a question clarified FAZL that his party was not spoken against opposition to state institutions. Rather, he said, Jui was critical of their political role and certain policies that directly affect both politicians and ordinary citizens.
“We want the public to respect defense institutions and love them. But unfortunately, the opposite is happening. The institutions are quickly losing public support – and this will prove to be disastrous to the country and all of us,” he warned.
