Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) President Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said he will appeal to the federal government to waive electricity bills for farmers and flooded people as he toured flooded areas of Punjab on Monday.
In a speech with journalists in Muzaffargarh, Bilawal said an agricultural emergency was needed to support farmers affected by the destruction.
He has made the proposal for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to use Benazir Income Support Program (Bisp) to distribute financial compensation to flood victims.
Bilawal stated that in the past such times, as the floods that took place during his tenure in the PDM government in 2022, and even under Covid, Bisp was used as a means of monetary -helping people.

He also called on the foreign office to seek international assistance and called on the UN agencies operating in Pakistan to contribute to relief and rehabilitation efforts.
The chairman appealed for political entity and urged all parties to set aside differences to meet the crisis. But when pressed by journalists over the lack of boats, life jackets and flooding camps, he offered no concrete answers and said only that the state tried its best in the light of an unprecedented disaster.

Floods This monsoon has claimed more than 900 lives, destroyed crops and displaced thousands over Punjab and Sindh.
Water inflow in the river Indus is expected to rise further in the coming days, with high stream forecast at the Guddu barrier.
