Fans annoyed at the woman marching over to the father who took the ball and gave it to her young son, tried to find out who she was. It created an internet rumors pointing to a woman named Cheryl Richardson-Wagner.

She pushed back against the poisonous online hatred with a funny post on Facebook.
“Ok everyone … I’m not the crazy Philly mother (but I would definitely love to be as thin as she is and move so fast) … and I’m a Red Sox fan,” she wrote.
A New Jersey School District also had to postpone a fire storm of online salaciousness.
Hammonton School District issued a statement and said no one from their schools was fired.

“The woman identified on social media like ‘Phillies Karen’ is not, and has never been an employee of Hammonton Public Schools located in Hammonton, New Jersey,” the district said. “Anyone who works for our school district, participated as a student or live in our society would of course have caught the ball that was just handed in the first place and avoided this whole situation!”
