Second World Computing has released a Thunderbolt 5-docking station that takes a different approach to high-speed connection.
Its double 10GBE LAN ports can be combined into a single virtual 20 Gbps link that offers flow that no other dock currently delivers.
OWC THUNDERBOLT 5 DUAL 10GBE NETWORK DOCK is aimed at professionals working with storage heavy or multi-network environments. It brings together two 10GBE gates, a 2.5 GBE port, three Thunderbolt 5 gates and four USB connections that replace the need for more adapters.
A smarter, faster and cleaner way of connecting everything
It also supports Daisy Chaining of devices, connection of up to three 8K screens and runs in a fanless aluminum cable for quiet operation.
“Our goal has always been to remove the friction that slows professionals, or gets in the way of their work,” said Larry O’Connor, OWC’s founder and CEO.
“With Thunderbolt 5 Dual 10GBBE Network Dock, we give creative, IT teams and power users a smarter, faster and cleaner way to connect everything they need, without the mess of extra adapters or compromises in speed.”
The ability to tie the two 10GBE gates through link aggregation is what makes this dock stand out.
When connected to the compatible network -lamb storage, OWC says users can reach transfer speeds of up to 20 Gbps, potentially cutting delays in workflows that require shared media access or more networks.
The performance requirements are from the company and we will have to wait for the first reviews to see what the real world speed is.
“Thunderbolt 5 opens up completely new opportunities for creative and production work, and OWC’s new dock really shows it. By combining downstream Thunderbolt 5 gates with additional USB connection, it allows the pros to connect everything they need without compromise,” said Ben Hacker, General Manager, Client Connectivity Division, Intel.
“And for teams working with NAS solutions with high-performance NAS like the OWC watermen, this is a game election-to-lock bandwidth and responsiveness they have been waiting for in video and collaboration work.”
OWC Thunderbolt 5 Dual 10Gbe Network Dock is available now, price for $ 499.
