Rawalpindi:
Feasibility surveys have been initiated to promote tourism in Hill Tehsils of Murree and Kotli Sattian, covering a number of ambitious projects that include two new chair lifts, Pakistan’s first sky glass in Muree, a glazing pods village and an advanced theme park.
The studies supported by an award of RS150 million are expected to be completed within three months.
Kotli Sattian, known for his natural beauty, is also designated as Punjab’s model tourism tehsil. A chair lift is scheduled for the lush, yet robust mountain range of Panj peers, while another will be installed at a recently identified tourist site in Murree.
Sky Glass Bridge, suggested to Murree, will be the first of its kind in Pakistan, with feasibility work already underway. Modern Jungle -Tema Parks are also imagined for both tehsils, where the private sector is expected to play a role in their development.
At present, Murree and Kotli Sattian only host a limited number of glazing pod villages; These will now be expanded and established in two or three additional places. Boy Scouts and Girl Guides are also set to be involved in these initiatives.
When we talk to the media, Asim Raza, CEO of Tourism Development Corporation Punjab (TDCP), highlighted the extraordinary natural charm in Rawalpindi -Division’s to Hill Tehsils. “Kotli Sattian is now our main focus. It emerges as a new tourist destination, blessed with green forests, robust mountains, waterfalls and natural sources,” he noted.
