MUZAFFARGARH: Former member of the National Assembly Jamshed Dasti has been sentenced to seven years in prison to a false degree.
A district and sessions that are a judge in Multan announced the verdict in the BA FAKE Degre case.
Dasti there is also chairman of the Awami Raj Party-Blev handed over a seven-year prison period under Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution.
In addition, he was sentenced according to section 420 (cheater) and 471 (using counterfeit documents), including offenses, which brought his total verdict to 17 years. Out of this, 10 years are fixed.
The development comes two months after the Pakistan (ECP) election commission disqualified dasti over false academic credentials.
In his judgment, the ECP bench with three members declared the seat available according to the legislator’s disqualification.
“Dasti has made false statements and incorrect declarations, which is why he has also committed offense of corrupt practice defined in accordance with sections 167 and 173 of the Electoral Act, 2017, which is punished in accordance with section 174, 2017 of the Electoral Act.
In May, the Commission had decided to obtain the educational certificates for Member National Assembly (MNA) Jamshed Dasti verified by Karachi Education Board.
Dasti, elected from NA-175, Muzaffargarh, at the last parliamentary elections, faced cases under Article 62, 63, sections 4, 9, 137 of the Electoral Act, 2017.
