Pakistan International Airlines has ensured a formal approval from the United Kingdom’s Department for Transport to serve as a third country operator and clear the way for resumption of direct flights between Pakistan and the UK after years of suspension.
According to Pia, the National Flag Carrier will relaunch its British operations next month, starting with flights to Manchester. Services to Birmingham and London follow in subsequent phases, which gradually extends the airline’s presence in one of its most significant international markets.

The British authorities formally informed Pia of the approval this week and gave the carrier extensive permission to operate direct aircraft for both passengers and cargo. In addition, the Department of Transport has issued Pia a five-year ACC3 certification covering its safety and freight operations.
International aviation regulators noted that these certifications reflect renewed confidence in PIA’s security protocols and operational standards that had been under control for several years.
Pia -Manager Director expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, Ministry of Defense, Civil Aviation Authority and all supportive institutions for their patronage and cooperation to secure approval. He also paid tribute to the Pia team, recognizing their resilience to meet and conduct more international audits in the last five years.
