A majority of the Scots believe that Scotland should scrape the monarchy and become a republic, according to a new voting reported by the national newspaper.
The study found that more than half of the respondents support the removal of the British monarchy and intensified the debate over the future of the royal family in Scotland.
The results were quickly seized by anti-monarchy campaigns.
“Royals lose support quickly. We will abolish the monarchy,” Republic Group wrote at X.
The figures come as King Charles III continues his annual stay at Balmoral Castle in the Scottish Highlands.
Earlier this week, his eldest son, Prince William, ended him who, after official tasks in northern England, according to British media.
The study also lands during a turbulent stretch for the royal family.
The monarchy is undergoing pressure after the leak of an E -mail in 2010, when Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, asked the disgraceful financier Jeffrey Epstein for financial aid and an apology.
The correspondence has reappeared in the media coverage and adds the Windsor family’s public embarrassment.
