Rumors of Samsung’s long-awaited XR headset launch will pick up Steam as there are reports that people will be able to foresee the headset on October 15 for a launch of October 22.
Now all rumors must be taken with a pinch of salt. This is especially true here when we had recently heard that Samsung’s tech would see his debut at the end of September, but we know that Project Moohan is launching this year based on Samsung’s previous promises – so eventually a prediction of its release date will come true.
Either way, this report comes via Chosunbiz (a South Korean marketing market, article machine translated into English), which claims that the industry’s insiders have revealed both prior week and the launch date.
The report did not detail much else about the launch. However, past leaks have suggested that this will not be a global debut.
That is, Project Moohan – or what name it takes when it is released to the public – will not be available anywhere immediately. Instead, it is expected to be exclusive to Korea at first (perhaps to see a launch in a few nearby Asian countries at the same time).
This is not entirely unheard of. Samsung has previously debuted South Korea-Exclusive Technology Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 SE-and other companies are known for rolling out hardware steadily, usually with a homemade dancing first.
Case: Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses first debut in the US and do not arrive anywhere else until 2026.
The most exciting VR -Launch of 2025
Project Moohan feels like something of a make-or-break launch to VR, and I write it like someone who loves VR and uses my Meta Quest 3 every week.
Apple Vision Pro came and went, and so much of the mind shares what it takes for XR Tech, which has not translated for the sale of any stretch from all accounts.
I have tested a sea of VR headsets and my advice is that there are only two options: Meta Quest 3 or Meta Quest 3s. Nothing else comes close when you consider the full package of software, price, specifications and ease of use.
Maybe because of this monopolization (a dominance meta has undoubtedly earned) VR feels quite stagnant and much less exciting than the new era with smart glasses that contain AI and scars.
Moohan, I hope, will bring a much needed boost to VR and give us an alternative to Quest 3 that people actually want to buy and use.
If it does not, I am convinced that VR risks becoming stale. Innovation requires competition, and if Meta continues to compete only against itself, it is not good for any of us – unless you are a meta employee.
We will have to wait and see what Moohan has in store. It doesn’t sound like we’ve been waiting for a long time to wait. Which is good news for me as I am not sure how much longer I can hold my breath in the very professed Metat-Murder-headset.
