- IPhone 17 -Series sees stronger demand than Morgan Stanley expected
- But iPhone Air is a weak joint with lower demand
- It is unclear what this will mean for potential future air models
While Apple has not revealed how good the iPhone 17 series sells, it seems that it is pretty much a hit that may not be a surprise as the company has refreshed the design and introduced a brand new model in the form of iPhone air.
But in fact, it is the iPhone Air that is apparently the weak link in this year’s set -up, according to analysts in Morgan Stanley (via makrumors).
The company claims that the current demand for the iPhone 17 series as a whole has been “modestly stronger than we originally expected”, based on a combination of information collected from Apple’s supply chain and the shipping date stimates in Apple’s online store.
While the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are apparently in high demand, there is apparently “relative weakness” in demand for iPhone air so far.
Now it’s worth noting that iPhone Air is not yet out in China, which is an important market for Apple, so it can be a factor. But it is unlikely that delay delay – or the lack thereof – for the phone, as models intended for China – if they have even been produced yet – would probably not be sold anywhere else.
A challenging handset
Even without the China factor, it’s no big surprise that iPhone air can be the weak link in terms of sales. While some people definitely love it, this is a phone that you really need to try for yourself to be sold, as the specifications-Inclusive a single-lens camera and a battery with lower capacity charger a little left to be desired.
And even after trying it, these specifications will probably be too much of a loss for many buyers. So this would always be a hard sale.
What this means for the future of the iPhone Air Line – and whether there will be more of them – is unclear, but with Apple that is allegedly launching the first foldable iPhone next year, it is credible that the company could ditch the air and focus on the folding as its fourth main line model.
Then the iPhone Mini and iPhone got -in -end, which again got more excursions despite similar sales matches, so Apple can give the air at least one more attempt.
