Former Dallas Cowboy’s quarterback Tony Romo was the attention of NFL fans on Sunday when he criticized the official under the Denver Broncos’ victory over Philadelphia Eagles.

There were at least two pieces that stood out to Romo when he served as a color commentator for CBS broadcast games.

With 8:41 back in the game, Broncos Quarterback found a tight end Evan Engram for a completion shortly after the first marker. A flag was thrown on the play and Engram was called for offensive passport interference.

“This becomes a choice that I don’t think is correct,” Romo said almost immediately after the flag was thrown. “I really don’t think this was actually a picking game. This is actually unintentional because he is running a Hitch route and they randomly run into each other. I would pick up this if it was me. But if I’m the Eagles fan, I would say it’s 100% (right).”

Even with the penalty, Denver would march down the field and score a touchdown and take the lead with 2-point conversion.

Broncos got the ball back with 3:37 back in the game. Nix fell back to pass and was immediately pressed by Eagles’ defense. He threw the ball away with the tight end Adam Trautman in the area, who would not have justified a intentional grounding call – or then fans thought.

After all, the official crew decided to throw a flag for intentional grounding. When Romo, Jim Nantz and officially analyst Gene Sterators discussed the call, the officials picked up the flag thanks to Replay Assist. The call was changed to an incomplete passport.

“Just don’t tell us?” Romo said of the silence of the officials. “Not so big of a deal – just a huge deal.”

It was these two calls that Romo seemed to be upset. NFL fans turned the attention of the penultimate game of the game, where it seemed that Eagle’s tight end Dallas Goedert was mixed with while trying to get a catch on a throw from Jalen Hurts.

No flag was thrown and Broncos escaped with the victory.
