- Duracell plans to roll out its first charging stations in the UK
- The first places open this year
- Expect to see more, with hundreds scheduled in 2030
You can see a Duracell battery from a mile off-and now the company’s iconic black-and-bronze branding comes to EV charging points.
That kind of, a certain bunny advocates) is designed to look like the brand’s giant batteries (you know, the kind of bunny spokesmen), will be funded by the EV network and installed by Elektra charging in the UK. There is currently no word on a global rollout.
According to an article from The Times, six sites online come online by the end of the year with a plan to open 100 more with at least 500 charging points in 2030. If successful more could be rolled out over Europe and further afield.
Mark Bloxham, Chief Development Officer for EVN, says a “lack of confidentiality with charging” can prove a tripping block for some of them on the fence to adopt electrical progress, but Bloxham feels that bringing a household name to the market can give it “confidentiality and confidence immediately to the consumer,” he told the Times.
Next to it is similar to the kind of giant single cell, cylindrical batteries flowing toys, each charging shop will be able to charge two cars at a time and deliver speeds of approx. 400 kW, which ranks them among some of the fastest chargers currently available in Europe.
The network provider also says that the charging sites will offer clear and transparent pricing, as well as the possibility of paying in-app, via contactless or with plug-and-go technology if supported by that EV.
A simple but effective feature
Mark Bloxham, Chief Development Officer for the EV network, is right when he says that confidentiality is the key to encouraging the adoption of electric vehicle – the technology still feels very new and often confusing to them on the fence.
We have had over a hundred years to get used to the gas pump, but the idea of joining an often confusing and relatively complex EV outlet is enough to expose potential customers to good. Maybe if it looks like something they instantly recognize, it doesn’t feel that stranger.
Duracell -Branding is universally recognized and synonymous with ensuring that electric gadgetry goes longer and lasts longer -everyone in the UK will have seen the ad with the hyperactive bunny rabbit.
While the roll-out of a Duracell e-Charge network in the UK does not actually offer anything special or innovative, it will deliver impressively fast charging speeds and the kind of brand confidentiality that can convince Naysayers that the network is strong enough to trust.
At least it provides the perfect opportunity to snap some social media content while your EV Slurps juice from a giant Duracell battery.
