- Google Pixel 10S Battery started smoking during a durability test
- The phone also cracked on a weak antenna line
- And it could not demonstrate its alleged dust resistance
The Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold is, among other things – sold by being durable. It is the first foldable with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, and Google claims it can survive up to ten years of folding. But despite these suspected advantages, 10 Pro Fold has just worked extremely poorly in a durability test.
JerryrigeVElything has put the Pixel 10 Pro fold through its usual battery of testing, and in the process of bending the phone cracked it along one of its antenna lines. But worse than it snapped while the battery was straightened out, the battery began to smoke so much that it even set a smoke alarm.
For about a decade of testing almost every mainstream phone, this is the first time a handset has gone up in smoke for JerryrigeVerything, and although they did not expect it to happen, they were also not surprised that it was cracking along the antenna line because the two previous foldable pixels had the same weakness – one that Google apparently did something to do.

One of the worst results ever
JerryrigeVElything described this result as a “catastrophic failure”, comparing the aerial lining weakness of “building a third death star with the exact same exhaust port.”
But while the broken screen and smoking battery are the biggest failures here, they are not the only ones, with YouTuber also finding out that despite Google’s IP68 claims, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold’s Hinge Hinge Sand can get stuck in it, which makes them think it’s only the screen that is actually dust-resistant (like something with an IP68 rating should be).
Of course, JerryrigEVEPTthing’s heavy test does not necessarily reflect the requirements for everyday use, but if you planned to buy Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold based on any sort of shelf life, be very careful not to bend it too much when it unfolds.
