- We might see the Samsung tri-fold on October 31st
- A full launch may happen some time after that
- The new foldable was first teased back in January
We’ve been waiting for the Samsung tri-fold phone to be officially unveiled for pretty much all of 2025, and the latest leak from those in the know suggests that it will finally be revealed to the world before the end of the month.
Someone “familiar with the matter” has told Bloomberg that the handset will be unveiled at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in South Korea, which is scheduled to get underway on Friday, October 31.
This isn’t a traditional product launch, though: the report says the tri-fold will likely be displayed under glass, so the various leaders gathering for APEC 2025 won’t be able to touch the phone or put it through any kind of durability testing.
This is the second time we’ve heard rumors that the Samsung tri-fold will break cover at APEC 2025, and given Bloomberg’s track record, it looks pretty certain that this will happen – although we’ll have to keep waiting to go out and buy it.
The waiting game
An earlier prediction that we would see the handset at the end of September has clearly not panned out, although Samsung itself has said that the tri-fold will launch sometime before the end of the year – and we’re running out of weeks.
There are also question marks around availability: reports have suggested that the tri-fold won’t actually go on sale until sometime in November, although it at least looks like it will launch globally, unlike some other Samsung foldables.
When the phone does see the light of day, we think it will use an inward-folding design (with an inner and outer display), and could well have three separate batteries and be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor.
If you’re keen to make this device your next smartphone upgrade, it’s definitely going to cost you: leaks have pointed to a starting price of around $3,000 (around £2,235 / AU$4,640), which is really to be expected from this kind of device.
