- A reputable source claims that the Samsung Galaxy tri-fold is likely to be launched only in several Asian regions
- This is somewhat at odds with an earlier leak which suggested that it “may” have a wider launch
- Since this is likely to be an expensive and imperfect phone, it might not be a good buy after all
One of the biggest questions surrounding the upcoming Samsung Galaxy tri-fold is where it will actually be available, and therefore whether you’ll be able to buy it, and we now have some new information on that front.
According to Evan Blass – a leaker with an excellent track record – the Samsung Galaxy tri-fold (or Samsung Galaxy TriFold, as a leak suggests it will be called) will likely only be sold in South Korea, China, Taiwan, Singapore and possibly the UAE.
They don’t sound 100% sure about this, but they say it’s “highly unlikely” that the Samsung Galaxy tri-fold will be sold outside of those regions. That said, there is still some hope, as an earlier leak hinted at countries like the US and UK “may” see a launch.
Unfortunately for foldable enthusiasts – and despite recent rumors to the contrary – I think it’s highly unlikely that Samsung will release its first trifold beyond Korea, the greater Chinese market (including Singapore and Taiwan) and possibly the UAE. However, I would like to be wrong.26 October 2025
We’re not optimistic, though, as aside from Blass usually being right about phone-related things, the Samsung Galaxy tri-fold doesn’t seem like much of a mass-market proposition. It’s a brand new phone form factor (at least in Western markets), so Samsung doesn’t yet know if there’s much demand for it – and given the likely very high price, there probably won’t be much demand.
As such, it would make sense for the company to give it a fairly limited launch, and if it does well enough, perhaps follow it up with a new model a year later that ships more widely.
Better to wait
If you were hoping to be able to buy the Samsung Galaxy tri-fold, then this could be disappointing, but as Blass points out in another post that with limited availability, this could be a blessing in disguise, as much as the original Samsung Galaxy Fold, it could be an unpolished and imperfect product.
So there’s every chance you’ll be better off waiting for the second generation of the device, where Samsung will have received user feedback and likely made some significant improvements.
Of course, there’s no guarantee that there will ever be a second-generation model, or that such a device will launch more widely than the original Samsung Galaxy tri-fold – all of this will likely depend on how this first model performs.
And while we can’t completely rule out this first model going global, it’s still worth keeping an eye out for it at launch, which leaks suggest will happen either on October 31st or November 1st, so we could be just days away from seeing it.
