Global technology provider IBM (IBM) is pushing deeper into cryptoassets with a new platform designed for banks, governments and large corporations looking to securely manage digital assets across multiple blockchains.
IBM Digital Asset Haven aims to offer custody, transaction routing and settlement across more than 40 public and private chains, the firm said in a press release on Monday. It will also include compliance tools like identity verification and anti-money laundering (AML), integrated through APIs and developer tools.
The software-as-a-service (SaaS) version of the platform is expected to go live in the last quarter of this year, with wider support planned for Q2 2026.
The move comes as more financial institutions and companies explore incorporating stablecoins and real-world tokenized assets into their operations. They do so to manage and move money and assets across borders cheaper, faster and with less friction compared to traditional banking lanes.
“With increasing use of tokenized assets and stablecoins, institutions will need to evolve,” IBM said in the press release. “The digital asset space presents a critical opportunity for financial institutions modernizing their product portfolios.”
IBM’s platform was built in partnership with Dfns, a crypto-wallet infrastructure company that has created over 15 million wallets for institutional clients. It combines IBM’s hardware-level security with Dfns’ custody technology to support features such as multi-party authentication, programmable access controls, and hybrid deployment options across cloud, on-premise, and cooling environments.
“For digital assets to be integrated into core banking and capital markets systems, the underlying infrastructure must meet the same standards as traditional financial rails,” said Clarisse Hagège, CEO of Dfns. “Together with IBM, we’ve built a platform that goes beyond custody to orchestrate the entire digital asset ecosystem, paving the way for digital assets to move from pilot programs to production on a global scale.”
