It’s finally here—just hours after Netflix accidentally leaked it ahead of schedule, the final trailer for Stranger Things season 5 has landed online.
If you’re anything like us, you’ve probably watched it several times to examine the footage inside. We also imagine that you have tried to find out which song it is set to and which band is responsible for the said track’s creation.
Look at
Well, fear not, dear reader, because we are bringing gifts about the music track used in the latest teaser for Stranger Things season 5. So read on to find out who it is, the title of the track, and where you can listen to it over and over again.
What song is playing in Stranger Things 5’s latest trailer? And who sings it?
It will be ‘Who Wants to Live Forever’, which was written and played by the legendary British rock group Queen.
The sixth track from Queen’s 1986 number one album ‘It’s a Kind of Magic’, the power ballad was also released the same year – September 15, 1986, to be exact – and peaked at No. 24 in the Official UK Charts upon the single’s release.
In the years since, ‘Who Wants to Live Forever’ has featured on several ‘best of’ Queen songs lists, with Rolling Stone readers ranking it as the fifth best Queen song of all time in 2014, and Smooth Radio listeners choosing it as the 15th best Queen song of 2018.
Where can I listen to ‘Who Wants to Live Forever’ by Queen?
On all the top music streaming services, of course. That includes Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal and YouTube.
It is unclear whether the song is used in Stranger Things 5‘s newest trailer will increase its popularity among fans of the wildly popular Netflix TV Original. Although music services are seeing an increase in the number of people listening to ‘Who Wants to Live Forever’, I imagine it will not be as successful as the song used in its predecessor’s various teasers.
In fact, when the trailers for the fourth season of one of the best Netflix series were released in 2022, they were set to Kate Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)’. In the lead up to Stranger Things 4launch, the track slowly took off on various music platforms as fans of the supernatural sci-fi horror show streamed it over and over again. When the last season bowed in mid-2022, its popularity exploded and led to ‘Running Up That Hill’ becoming one of the most listened to songs of the year.
If it’s to eclipse the musical track’s success, ‘Who Wants to Live Forever’ needs to be streamed over a billion times – a figure ‘Running Up That Hill’ hit just weeks after Stranger Things season 4 premiered – between now and December 31, 2025. A tall order, but if anyone can do it, Queen, also known as one of the most beloved British acts of all time, can.
