Earlier, a key meeting was chaired by Railway Minister Hanif Abbasi where the performance of Railway Police was discussed. During the session, it was revealed that following the Minister’s directives, the ticket checking campaign has become more effective.
Abbasi warned that both passengers who travel without tickets and those who facilitate such travel will face prosecution. “Those who travel without tickets will face jail time,” he said, calling for the crackdown on ticketless travel to continue.
The meeting also discussed the efforts of the Railway Police to combat theft, smuggling and other crimes, highlighting the implementation of the anti-encroachment policy. Abbasi’s directives to clear decades-old encroachments from railway land are underway, with the railway police ensuring that every inch of railway land is reclaimed.
In June, Pakistan Railways announced that its luxury saloon coaches, previously reserved for high-ranking officials, would now be available for booking by the public.
According to Express newsthe decision was taken on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s directive. The initiative aimed to extend premium travel facilities to ordinary citizens and optimize the use of existing railway resources.
Five luxury saloons, which had been used by the Prime Minister, Federal Ministers, the Chairman of Pakistan Railways, the Chief Executive Officer and the Railway Inspector, were now available to any passenger who wished to reserve them.
