Pakistan has called on the international community to intensify efforts against terrorism, condemning the shooting in Washington DC on Thursday as an act of terrorism. Foreign Ministry spokesman Tahir Hussain Andrabi extended his condolences to the affected families.
At the weekly press briefing from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andrabi spoke about and condemned the killing of Chinese nationals in Tajikistan and offered condolences to the two countries. Three Chinese workers in Tajikistan were killed in an attack launched from Afghanistan near the border, Tajik authorities said Thursday.
He said reports have suggested an Afghan national may have been involved in the incident in the United States. “Pakistan has faced numerous terrorist incidents over the past two decades, many linked to Afghanistan.” The spokesman stated that the Washington incident represents a rising case of terrorism and calls on Afghanistan to prevent terrorism from originating on its territory.
Andrabi also criticized remarks made by the Indian defense minister on Sindh, calling them provocative “Such statements are based on misunderstandings. Pakistan supports peaceful resolution of disputes and will not compromise on its defence.”

A UN report was mentioned which highlights human rights violations in the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The report says that 2,800 Kashmiris are currently in Indian custody. Pakistan urged India to release the prisoners.
“Pakistan strongly objects to the installation of a temple flag at the site of the Babri Mosque. Pakistan expresses concern over hate-driven acts against minorities in India, especially Muslims”.
The spokesman also condemned Israel’s ongoing ceasefire violations in Palestine, particularly in Gaza. “The Israeli attacks have killed numerous civilians, including women and children.”

The spokesman also confirmed Pakistan’s membership of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
He spoke about Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s two-day visit to Bahrain, where productive meetings were held with the Bahraini leadership. Pakistan and Bahrain agreed to strengthen cooperation across various sectors.
Speaking on the two-day visit of Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Andrabi stated that the two countries held important meetings and exchanged views on regional and international issues. Both sides pledged to work together in global forums.
