Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has stated that the economy was severely damaged under the previous government led by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Addressing a federal cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif mentioned that a remarkable conference on women’s education had recently been held in Pakistan, which was well prepared by the education minister, education minister, information minister and others.
The conference was attended by the Secretary General of the OIC and Ministers of Education from various countries.
He said Pakistan faces significant challenges in women’s education, with about 22.8 million children out of school, the majority of whom are girls. He stressed that the provinces have a critical role to play in addressing these challenges and the federal government must work with the provinces to overcome these obstacles in the education sector.
Shahbaz Sharif also mentioned that an emergency had been declared in the education sector a few months ago. He called on the Minister of Education to coordinate with the provinces to remove the barriers to education, which would be a major effort.
He added that PIA’s flights to Europe have resumed, with the first flight to Paris recently launched, marking a significant achievement.
Unfortunately, a few years ago, the then aviation minister of the previous government made a speech in parliament that contributed to Pakistan’s economic damage, resulting in adverse effects on the country and its travelers.
The Prime Minister also highlighted that after many years all restrictions are being lifted and flights to the UK are expected soon. He congratulated Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, his team and all involved for this achievement.
He mentioned the opening of a new crossing on the border between Pakistan and Iran in Panjgur, which will promote legal trade and curb smuggling. He thanked the brotherly country of Iran for its significant role in this.
In Kurram, the situation is returning to normal after a major setback due to a peace deal where bunkers are being dismantled and food and medicine are being delivered.
The Prime Minister further stated that operations against the Khorij faction are underway under the leadership of the Pakistan Army Chief. Recently, 27 terrorists were killed in an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan.
Operations also continue in other areas. He emphasized that these sacrifices will ultimately eradicate the Khorij menace and restore the peace Pakistan enjoyed under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif in 2018.
The Prime Minister also mentioned that the Ministry of Energy had informed the government and a task force is working effectively on the matter.
Notably, the Federal Cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister is underway, with key decisions expected to be ratified.
The meeting’s agenda includes discussions on the right size of federal institutions, the proposal to place the Aviation Department under the Ministry of Defense and the merger of the Narcotics Department into the Ministry of the Interior. The decisions of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) will also be ratified.
