Latest letter submitted by Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Senator Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry, Omer Sarfraz Cheema, Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed

Jailed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders on Monday again approached the Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi, seeking early fixation of their appeal against convictions in the May 9 cases.
The letter has been sent to CJP as well as Chief Justice of Lahore High Court by jailed PTI leaders Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed, Ijaz Chaudhry and Omer Sarfraz Cheema through their legal team.
PTI Insaf Lawyers Forum Convenor Intizaar Panjutha confirmed that the letter had been sent to both the Chief Justices.
He said that the first letter was written by Dr. Yasmin Rashid to the Chief Justice of Pakistan on 14 December 2024.

Another letter was sent on May 2, 2025 with the title “Justice delayed is justice denied”where she stated that cases were not being taken up effectively due to political interference. She also pointed out that her election collection had been pending for a long period of time.
A third letter was submitted on September 9, 2025 by Dr. Yasmin Rashid, along with three other leaders, through their lawyer Rana Mudassar Umar, to the Chief Justice of Pakistan and the Chief Justice of Lahore High Court, raising concerns over what they described as “serious miscarriage and mala fide political misuse of anti-terrorism”.

According to Panjutha, the latest letter has now been submitted by Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Senator Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry, Omer Sarfraz Cheema and Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed to the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court, to seek early fixation of their appeals, particularly those relating to party workers.
Many PTI leaders were indicted on various charges following the violent protests that erupted on 9 May 2023 following the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) premises in a corruption case.
