Deion Sanders appeared to shrug off any talk of him coaching the Dallas Cowboys, but one of his former teammates isn’t buying it just yet.
The Pro Football Hall of Famer, who currently coaches at the University of Colorado, has all but confirmed reports that he and Jerry Jones have been in talks about the open position in Dallas.
Sanders told ESPN the opportunity is “exciting. But I love Boulder and everything about our team, the coaches, our student body and the community.”

However, Sanders’ former teammate, Daryl Johnston, said the chances of him going to the Lone Star State are “legit.”
That’s not as easy as it sounds, considering Sanders said last week that he would only consider coaching in the NFL if he were to team up with his sons.
“I think if Deion comes here because he seems to have his plan in place — he would love to coach his son, Shedeur, in the NFL. I don’t know if that happens in Dallas,” Johnston said to OutKick’s. “Hot Mic.” “Many different things need to happen.”

Johnston also mentioned something pretty important – they already have Dak Prescott.
“To me, that wouldn’t be a smart thing to do. I think you need to have that conversation beforehand and go ‘Look, I know what your plan is, but we just don’t see it working. So if you “We get here, we really don’t see how Shedeur is going to be a part of this journey forward,” Johnston said. “You need to talk about all that. I just think it’s not good for the franchise going forward to try to make a move that allows you to bring in Shedeur as your quarterback when you have Dak Prescott.”
Of course, Shedeur could easily go No. 1 in the NFL Draft, while Dallas currently owns the 12th spot.

Deion Sanders played for the Cowboys from 1995 to 1999. He was part of the organization’s last Super Bowl run – in 1995. He was a Pro Bowler in four of those five seasons.
