- Neon has dropped a trailer and release date for the horror film Finish 8
- It will be in theaters on April 10
- Finish 8 joins other recent horror adaptations such as Iron Lung and Five Nights at Freddy’s 2
Finish 8 is the next horror video game to get the big screen treatment when it hits theaters on April 10.
Given that we have seen Iron Lung‘s huge box office success and the rumored release of Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 on the Peacock sometime in 2026, it’s shaping up to be a huge year for play-to-screen adaptations.
Finish 8 looks like Iron Lung due to its creepy one-location setting. Instead of being welded into a submarine, here the protagonist finds himself trapped in a seemingly endless underground corridor trying to find exit 8 and leave the station. Commuting is stressful enough without having to deal with all of this.
I’m sure everyone has their own opinions on the recent influx of video game movies. Personally, I’m excited after seeing that it’s actually possible to customize a game well, just watch The last of us and Fallout to see what I mean. If done well, Finish 8 could definitely make my list of good video game movies.

Exit 8 plays on the fear of liminal space
You may be familiar with Backrooms, a creepy pasta about endless mazes with eerily abandoned places like empty corridors, offices, shopping malls or actually subway tunnels. These are known as liminal spaces, and yes, they scare me too.
Finish 8 is based on the game of the same name by Kotake Create, where the film adaptation follows one man’s journey to escape the subway and leave via Exit 8. Something that shouldn’t be difficult, but when you’re trapped in one of these creepy universes, it is.
As the trailer shows, he has simple rules to follow. If anything looks out of the ordinary, he should return, and if everything seems fine, he should continue. But if he gets it wrong, he is sent back to the beginning again.
I can’t wait to see how Finish 8 is adapted to the screen; it has real potential and the trailer looks promising. I’m crossing my fingers.
