The Chief of Defense (CDF) and Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir on Monday affirmed that the security and stability of the United Arab Emirates is an integral part of Pakistan’s own security, citing deep-rooted historical ties and a strong strategic partnership between the two brotherly countries, the military’s media wing said.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief made these remarks during a meeting with His Highness Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Adviser of the UAE.

The ISPR said both sides discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation across various sectors with a special focus on economic cooperation, investment and security. Regional developments were also reviewed and the importance of continued coordination to promote peace and stability was emphasized.

Field Marshal Asim Munir expressed “sincere appreciation and gratitude to the government of the United Arab Emirates for its long-standing investment and continued support for Pakistan’s economy and security over decades,” noting that such support reflects the depth of bilateral relations, the statement said.

He reiterated Pakistan’s firm commitment to further strengthen the strategic partnership with the UAE in all fields in a manner that serves the mutual interests of both nations and contributes to regional peace, stability and prosperity, he added.

Earlier, CDF Munir discussed joint efforts with the Saudi Defense Minister to promote global peace and security. Speaking at X today, Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman said he met Field Marshal Munir to reaffirm “our strong relations and strategic defense partnership”.

He added: “We discussed our joint efforts to promote global peace and security in a manner that serves our common interests”.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have a long-standing strategic and defense cooperation. Last year in September, both signed a landmark “Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement” declaring that “any aggression against either country shall be regarded as aggression against both”.

The defense pact reflected the joint commitment of both nations to enhance their security and achieve security and peace in the region and the world, with the aim of developing aspects of defense cooperation between the two countries and strengthening the common deterrence against any aggression

The pact was signed during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Riyadh at the invitation of Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
