ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has set a hearing date for the various applications seeking an early hearing to suspend the sentences of former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the £190 million case.

The IHC registrar has scheduled the applications for today (Thursday) and IHC Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Azam Khan will hear the case. An application had also been filed for early hearing of the PTI founder’s plea for suspension of sentence on medical grounds.

The main case has not yet been determined, only the various applications have been scheduled for hearing. The last hearing on adjournment of penalty applications was held on 26 September 2025.

The PTI founder has already filed a petition in the IHC seeking suspension of sentence and release on bail in the Toshakhana-II case, which is also called the Bulgari case. A miscellaneous application has also been made for an early determination of the suspension proceedings in the £190m case.

Earlier this month, two separate bail applications were filed in the IHC on behalf of the PTI founder through Barrister Salman Safdar and Advocate KhalidYousaf Chaudhry.

The petitions stated that Imran is suffering from a serious disease in his right eye. Dr. Muhammad Arif of PIMS diagnosed that due to a blood clot, the right eye has been severely affected and vision has reduced to only 15 percent. The disease cannot be properly treated in prison.

The petition further stated that the PTI founder is 73 years old and should be released on bail.
