Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed emergency preparedness to resume conversations with Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) and proposed the formation of a parliamentary committee to tackle ongoing questions.
At a federal cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Sharif remembered the previous conversations with PTI, which began with the formation of a committee after PTI’s offer.
He mentioned that PTI had made written claims through the speaker, which the Government Committee expected to answer in writing. However, the scheduled meeting on January 28 was canceled by PTI.
PM SHARIF emphasized that it was only logical to respond in writing to written requirements. He recalled that after the 2018 election, when the opposition entered parliament with black bracelets, the then Prime Minsiter Imran Khan had initiated the formation of a parliamentary committee to investigate electoral concerns. PM Sharif noted that PTI never formed a Legal Commission, but rather a committee.
He further urged PTI to resume dialogue and work together to form a new committee to investigate both the 2018 and 2024 elections and present the facts.
Earlier at the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif honored the victims of Pakistani soldiers who were martyrated while fighting terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, emphasizing the nation’s duty to honor the fallen heroes.
At his address, the Prime Minister also welcomed the State Bank’s decision to reduce the policy rate by 1%and said that a larger cut would have been beneficial for businesses and industries. He expressed optimism about the country’s economic growth and development.
PM Sharif also addressed the issue of human trafficking and expressed deep concern about the loss of hundreds of Pakistani life due to illegal smuggling.
He assured that the government was focused on eradicating human trafficking and would not rest until those responsible were held responsible.
