A newborn baby was discovered alive inside a plastic bag in a house under construction in Laorne’s Gajjumata area, which got Swift action from rescue teams and authorities.
According to Rescue 1122 officials, an emergency call reported the presence of an abandoned infant near LDA Road, Express News reported.
Upon arrival, the respondents found the baby wrapped in a plastic bag. Despite the circumstances, the baby girl was alive and immediately transported to the Children’s Hospital for Medical Evaluation and Care.
Following the incident, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz took the warning and instructed the child protection agency to take custody of the infant.
Chairman Sarah Ahmed confirmed that the agency’s team was sent to the hospital to ensure the baby’s proper care.
“The child will receive the best possible care and care under the protection of the agency,” Ahmed said, confirming the government’s obligation to protect vulnerable children.
Authorities have launched a study to determine how the baby ended up on site and to trace all persons involved in giving up the newborn.
On the other hand, KP Chief Minister on Health, Ihtesham Khan, Uncef Chief of Field Office, Radoslaw Rzehak and Unicef Health Team Lead for KP, dr. Inamullah Khan inaugurated a sick newborn care unit at Women and Children Hospital Abbottabad.
When talking to the occasion, health adviser highlighted the importance of newborn care of quality to tackle high newborn mortality in the province.
He thanked UNICEF for supporting the newborn care agenda and added that taking UNICEF model is planning KP Govt to establish newborn care units at each district level.
Radoslaw Rzehak said UNICEF supports the government in health and nutrition as well as education. He insured continued support. Dr. Inamullah said this is advanced device that also has the capacity to provide newborn services of high -born care services to adjacent districts in Abbottabad.
