- Microsoft introduced inverted an error to Entra ID
- The error prevented users from logging in to different Azure services
- It is now resolved but users are not happy
Microsoft has solved a problem in its Entra ID authentication service, which briefly prevented users from logging into various Azure Cloud Services. The problem came from trouble -free SSO and Microsoft Entra Connect Sync, causing DNS approval errors.
At his azure status -Webside, Microsoft explained that it recently made changes causing DNS resolution errors for autologon.microsoftazuread.sso.com -domain. The error prevented customers from accessing Azure Services between 17:18 UTC and 18:35 UTC on February 25, 2025.
“As part of a clean-up effort to remove duplicate IPV6 Cnames, a change was introduced that removed a domain used in the approval process for Microsoft Entra ID’s seamless single sign-on function. Once the domain could no longer be resolved and could no longer be resolved and requesting approval would fail, ”apparently read the status page.
DNS changes
“These problems were caused by a recent DNS change, which has now been returned and the service is fully recovered. At this point, customers no longer have to encounter DNS resolution errors.”
The status update was later removed but not before he was picked up by Bleeping computer. It was apparently removed because the page is only made to track “widespread events” and when the problem was resolved, the update was removed.
Still, Microsoft said it would share more details about the mistake in the future – but at the time of the press, that’s not yet happening.
Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) is Microsoft’s cloud -based identity and access management service. It handles approval and permission for users who have access to Microsoft services such as Microsoft 365, Azure and other integrated applications.
Seamless SSO and Entra Connect Sync are features that improve how Entra ID manages approval. Seamless SSO automatically logs on users when they are on a corporate network, using their local credentials without requiring a password prompt. Entra Connect Sync ensures that user identities, group membership and credentials remain synchronized between an organization’s local Active Directory and Entra ID, enabling hybrid identity management.
