- 12 Chinese hackers are indicted by the US Department of Justice
- Two of these were reportedly involved in 2024 US Treasury Hack
- The individuals have not been arrested
The US Department of Justice (DOJ) has announced that it brings charges against 12 Chinese hackers accused of targeting over 100 US companies, including the US Treasury.
The individuals are all accused of having played key roles in Chinese hacking offensives. Officials confirmed that some of the accused were contract hackers and Chinese law enforcement officials who targeted businesses in the United States and worldwide to suppress “freedom of speech and religious freedoms”.
Of these twelve, two of the individuals are allegedly linked to the state -sponsored hacking group Silk Typhoon – identified by Microsoft as the group responsible for the US Ministry of Finance by the end of 2024.
Hackers-for-hire
The attackers who targeted law firms, defense contractors, government agencies, universities, tech businesses and healthcare confirmed prosecutors -to access the victims’ network by exploiting non -admitted vulnerabilities in business software.
DOJ also announced that it brought charges against eight people who were part of an organization, Anxum Information Technology Co.ltd. – Called “I-SOON”.
This organization, “Computer Intrusions in the direction of K [Ministry of Public Security] MPS and MINISTRY OF STATE SECURITY (MSS) ” – as MPs and MSS” paid nicely “, allegedly reward between approx. $ 10,000 and $ 75,000 for each E -mail inbox that the group successfully exploited.

“Today’s messages reveal that the Chinese Public Security Ministry of Public Security has paid hackers-for-rent to inflict digital damage to Americans who criticize the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
None of the individuals are detained and the US government has offered up to $ 10 million for information leading to arrests and convictions of the malicious cyber criminals.
