Meta rushed to integrate its Meta AI assistant into all its properties, including WhatsApp. Now it seems that the tech giant is expanding the strategy with a dedicated widget, as first discovered byWabetainfo. This comes after WhatsApp expanded Meta AI from a floating action button to an integration of the search box and then the in-chat mark that allows you to add it to the CHAT group.
The widget gives you a pressure access to its text search, camera for image -based queries and voice input for hands -free interactions. Whether this is useful or just another thing that messed up your home screen depends on how much you actually want an AI assistant embedded in your messaging app.
The idea is that instead of switching to chatgpt or confusion, you can pull Meta AI within WhatsApp and fire a question without having to open the app first as it is straight from a widget. Whether it is practical or irritating probably depends on your disposition. There have been complaints that Meta AI is too intrusive, so it is a questionable decision from Meta.
Whether this addition is useful or just another AI experiment in search of a problem probably depends on how much you really need to talk to meta ai.
Fortunately, if you fall into the “No Thanks” camp, you can disable it completely by going into Settings> Chats and turn out the Meta AI button. At least for now, it’s still an option.
Since Meta bets big on AI integration, WhatsApp is a primary target, simply because of its massive user base. If even a fraction of its billions of users randomly start using Meta AI, it’s a victory for Meta in the battle for AI dominance. But if users continue to disable the feature or ignore it completely, it may just be another forgotten experiment that Facebook’s attempt to make Metaverse a thing.
