Police under control for abuse

Rawalpindi:

Senior police officers have taken a strict message about the abuse of electricity and government phones in police offices and stations and implemented new measures to limit wasted expenses.

Unauthorized use of air conditioning and electrical heaters has been prohibited with immediate removal ordered for air conditioning installed in offices for unauthorized officers.

To enforce these directives, City Police Officer (CPO) has Rawalpindi, Khalid Hamdani, issued two separate letters to the SSP operations, division and subdivision officers, SHOs and DSP headquarters. The first letter relating to electricity consumption emphasizes that officers and staff often leave electrical appliances, lights and heaters on, leading to unnecessary waste of electricity and inflated bills. Police stations and offices have been asked to cease using electrical heaters immediately, and unauthorized air conditioners must be removed without delay.

The second letter relates to excessive government bills. It was observed that many police offices, stations and checkpoints generated high telephone bills due to long -term landline and mobile calls, often without proper justification. In addition, telephone records that detailed official use have not been maintained, creating audit objections.

All police offices and stations must maintain a telephone register and submit monthly use reports. Any abuse will be closely monitored and non -compliance will result in departmental acts against responsible officials. In the event of excessive invoicing, deductions are made directly from the salaries of those found guilty of abuse.

CPO emphasized that these measures aim to ensure responsibility and responsible use of government resources within the police force.
