- One in two IT managers want to tackle employee experiences this year
- 89% of companies need a digital audit to take advantage of AI
- Lenovo says slowly, simplify and personalize first
According to new research from Lenovo, fewer than half of employees believe that their current digital workplace solutions effectively support productivity, commitment and innovation – raising questions about how good organizations support workers.
Only one in three (36%) believes that their systems support employee engagement ‘very efficiently’, with half (49%) of IT managers quoting a productive and engaging employee experience as a highest priority this year.
Despite the promises that artificial intelligence holds, Lenovo says there is a lot of work that needs to be done before companies can fully benefit from technology.
Improving employee experience with technology
Four out of five (79%) IT managers believe that AI will allow employees to focus on more meaningful work, but Lenovo says an overwhelming majority (89%) of organizations must review their digital workplace to lock the full potential of AI.
Although there are some use cases for AI tools in collaboration, such as virtual co-author and real-time translation, the technique has more value in locking worker creativity, innovative work and problem solving by automating repeated tasks. AI-driven insight also promises to streamline workflows, improve efficiency and speed up normal daily operations.
In addition, IT leaders acknowledge that a very personal digital workplace is important (63%), but they are struggling to move past one size approaches to suit everyone due to lack of configurable devices and applications.
“Transforming your workplace is important to use AI effectively,” said Lenovo Digital Workplace Solutions VP and GM Rakshit Ghura. “AI changes the rules of productivity, but in order to realize its potential, the leaders must work with their executive teams to consider how AI can increase their organization’s value -resisting handle and competition differentiation.”
Looking ahead, Lenovo advises companies to simplify and adapt their employee experiences with tailor -made tools and workflows. The next step is to automate some IT processes to free up resources for higher value tasks and then use generative AI to drive further innovation.
