- Xbox’s copilot for game feature is released on mobile in April for Xbox Insiders
- Copilot is an AI -Sidekick designed to improve the Xbox experience
- The tool will help the players in the game and will be “personalized to you”
Microsoft has shared new details about its new game feature copilot set to go live on Mobile for Xbox Insiders in April.
In the latest episode of the Xbox Podcast, Ethan Rothamel hosted with Fatima Kardar, CVP Gaming AI and Jason Ronald, VP for Next Generation, to discuss the development of copilot for gaming, a new AI Sidekick aimed at improving the Xbox experience (via Xbox Wire).
“That’s one of the things we’re working on and we’ll bring it out to players to try,” Kardar said. “Copilot in the context of Xbox should be about gameplay, it needs to be adapted to you, the way you like to play and it should be able to help you get on into play, be your companion and help you connect you to family and community.”
Microsoft’s Copilot was released in 2023 and is described as an all-inclusive AI-Chatbot and Assistant that can be used on Windows, specific applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Now that the AI tool is coming to Xbox, Kardar explained that sidekick can be customized to help players and show up when needed in the game.

“Ai will be there and you can chat with it and garbage talk if that’s what you need, but really can ai bring these people together and help you see when your friends do things too.”
Kardar continued and said, “It’s not just about AI showing up to help you, it’s about AI that shows up at the right time. So I think we really have to think about the experience we’ve built, it can’t be intrusive, it can’t show up in the middle of the game.”
Kardar said Xbox wants people to “try it” because the more people do it, the more copilot learns. That’s one of the reasons it will only come to Mobile for Xbox Insiders next month, according to Ronald, because it is a faster way for Microsoft to receive feedback.
