- Koei Tecmo’s rise of Ronin is running poorly on RTX 4090 with staming in multiple segments
- Image prices in the game may be high but gameplay suggests otherwise with slow-motion NPCs
- It adds to the list of poorly optimized games on PC this generation
Koei Tecmo’s Rise of the Ronin Recently, launched on PC after being exclusive to Sony’s PS5 for almost a year – and once again it is another story of a poorly optimized PC port that allegedly struggling even on advanced configurations.
According to the Tweattown, Rise of the Ronin Struggles to run on an RTX 4090 of 4K with constant stutters and slow movement while using DLSS. The image counter in the game reportedly indicates a range of between 40 to 60 fps (hits per second), but the gameplay suggests otherwise – and steam reviews confirm these complaints as many users refuse to recommend buying the title until the problems are dealt with.
It is worth noting that a patch has already been released that is believed to offer a solution for steming in certain ‘stages and circumstances’ in the game – but again, feedback from players indicates that this has done little to solve the major performance problems.
Given the consensus of the game’s graphic faith – it has been accused of being quite bad for AAA standards – it is a greater surprise to see that the game is not running at acceptable levels. Usually games that have advanced graphics like Cyberpunk 2077 expected to be demanding (while still well optimized) even for advanced hardware but Rise of the RoninGraphics do not even get close to this level, and yet it is not doing well.
Don’t bother looking for a GPU upgrade not before game developers optimize games better
There is nothing that annoys me more about PC games than poor gaming optimization, and it’s a shame that this remains a trend in 2025. Players paying for a GPU like NVIDIA’s RTX 4090 and still facing greater image frequency in play (even with upscaling), is even unacceptable.
It’s even worse when you’re aware that games cost a ridiculous $ 70 / £ 70 / AU $ 100 while not running without game-breaking bugs and frequent stutters, leaving players waiting for future patches. Game developers also appear to be increasingly dependent on scaling technologies such as DLSS to solve cases of poor optimization, which relates.
I can see why PC players get annoyed by bad PC play versions, especially if they have paid a lot of money for an advanced GPU and it looks like one of the best ways to show your frustration is by voting with your wallet and not buying any games that have excessive trouble on PC -and make sure you get a refund if you are dissatisfied about your money back).
It’s time for this trend with poor PC gates to end, so we can all finally enjoy PC games without any restrictions on performance.
