Chatgpt can be a surprisingly pleasant companion on your game journey, here are a few ways I’ve implemented it to make playing video games more fun.
Game Guide AI
There was a time when official game guides were thick, glossy artifacts full of art and unclear Easter eggs or huge and often fun digital books written by paid gaming journalists. But these days, official guides are rare and investors in online guides are mostly dependent on messy wikies. The information you want is probably out there, but rarely in a coherent and useful format.
Recently while swinging through the streets of New York in Spider-Man 2 On my PS5, I decided to see if Chatgpt could recreate something similar to the classic guides, one that could map all sides mission, collectibles and hidden secret. I used the deep research tool to really go into the depth of the internet and come back with more than just a single Mission Tipsheet. I asked ai about “Create a personal, comprehensive guide to ending Spider-Man 2 on PS5. Make sure it contains information about collecting suits, getting upgrades and finding page missions so I don’t miss anything.”
Five minutes later I had a thorough game plan with not only everything I should look for, but even what to prioritize at different phases of the story. I got optimal routes for collector objects, tips to effectively earn upgrade tokens and suggested matches tailored to different types of meetings. I didn’t need or would follow its suggestion slavishly, but if I ever got confused or realized there was a blank in my costume settings, it was right there to control me to the solution.
Guide in real time
Open-World games offer freedom to do something, but a scattered fantasy-RPG can sometimes be almost annoying if you love them at the same time, but also become impatient with them. While wandering the lively landscapes in Nintendos The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the KingdomI stood on top of a floating island and felt stuck despite the possibilities of shrines, side views and mysteries spread over the horizon.
Just to break paralysis I asked chatgpt, “I feel uncertain about what to do in tears of the kingdom. Should I prioritize shrines, exploration or push forward with the main story?” I soon had a nice breakdown of possible rewards, pace and general atmosphere of the possibilities, and I immediately had my next four hours filled with fun rather than to rap from my island.
Game mechanical training
Complex game mechanics are part of the fun of a video game, but sometimes they are a little too difficult to train from a game’s own description. I don’t like switching to easy state at stake, even in a game with that opportunity, but it can leave me stuck again and again. Hogwarts: Legacy Is no idea of an ultra-hard pro-gamer only games, but that doesn’t mean the mastering form combinations, potions and talent trees don’t have any practice at least.
Frustrated after a particularly disastrous duel, I turned to Chatgpt for help. My prompt was: “I’m struggling with the spelling system and fighting combinations in Hogwarts: Legacy. Can you clearly explain how I can combine different magic forms effectively without making it feel like studying for finals?”
Fortunately, Chatgpt not only spotted me, but explained some complicated mechanics in simpler ways and suggested strategies for improvement. The counseling included showing the synergy of some spell, combinations to try different enemies and other variations to try. Suddenly I was a skilled wizard rather than another confused muggle.
The next game
Big ever at your gaming library or rolled endlessly through digital stores, not able to choose a new game? Chatgpt can also be your guide to it. After completing God’s war: Ragnarok, I was eager to find something similar exciting. Online guides helped but i wouldn’t waste time or money so i asked chatgpt for help with prompt, “I loved God of war: Ragnarok, especially the story, visceral struggle and mythology. Can you recommend something similar to my next game?”
Chatgpt recommended options such as Horizon: Forbidden West and Ghost of Tsushimaexplaining how each matched my preferences. Chatgpt not just threw random ideas my way it had an explanation of each. Ghost of Tsushima It turned out to meet my interests perfectly.
