PM SHARIF emphasizes the importance of religious tolerance of Islamophobia -Day

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has issued a message on the occasion of the International Day of Fighting Islamophobia, reminiscent of the world of the serious challenges facing Muslims due to rising discrimination, hatred and attacks on their sacred symbols and places of worship.

PM SHARIF emphasized the importance of this day, which was recognized by the United Nations General Assembly three years ago, as a call for action against rising Islamophobia globally.

He said the day reflects the collective desire of the international community to tackle this issue through strong legislative and political actions.

Pakistan, who led the UN in this important initiative, also welcomed measures taken by Member States to tackle the discrimination of Muslims, including the declaration of Qur’an -Desecration as illegal.

The Prime Minister called for urgent action to fight the dangerous wave of Islamophobia and address obvious violations of human rights and religious freedoms. He emphasized that there is no reason for respecting religious symbols in the form of freedom of expression.

Sharif also emphasized that respect for all religions and their reverent personalities is important for global peace and harmony.

He urged international forums to recognize the deep damage caused by such actions and to work collectively to prevent them.

On this day, Pakistan confirmed his demand for action against events with Quran -desk, mosque attacks and other forms of religious intolerance that targeted Muslims.

The Prime Minister expressed the expectation of the appointment of a UN’s special envoy to tackle Islamophobia, as decided by the UN General Assembly.
