Senior Minister for Transport, Sharjeel Inam Memon, visited the ongoing construction work in the yellow line BRT project and inspected its progress.
During the visit, the secretary of the transport department, Asad Zaman, Gul Line project director Zameer Abbasi, engineers, representatives from construction companies and consultants also present.
The consultants informed the Senior Minister about the project and highlighted progress, obstacles and the expected ending time line.
SHARJEEL INAM MEMON instructed there should be no delays in the completion of the yellow line Brt, and it must be terminated before the deadline. He further emphasized that the project, originally set to end in September 2025, will now be completed in May 2025 – five months prior to the plan.
In a speech with the media, Sharjeel Inam Memon said the Sindh government is working tirelessly to provide maximum convenience to the people, and the yellow line BRT is an advanced project built for the citizens of Karachi. He acknowledged that tool -related challenges are common during construction, but assured that the government is obliged to overcome these obstacles.
With regard to the Red Line BRT project, he mentioned challenges due to civil aviation, the waterboard and the K4 project, but assured that these questions would soon be resolved. He praised officials in the transport department for their excellent performance and efforts to implement the projects on time.
On the green line BRT, he confirmed that ticket prices would not be increased and additional facilities would be delivered to improve the public’s travel experience.
SHARJEEL INAM MEMON also appealed to the Prime Minister to honor his commitment to delivering 180 buses to Karachi as this is the right to the city’s citizens. He called for the Prime Minister to fulfill this promise to ensure better travel facilities for Karachi’s residents.
As part of special initiatives for women, he announced that pink scooters would be delivered free of charge to working women. In addition, a pink taxi service will soon be introduced to offer safe and comfortable travel settings for women. In addition, the Sindh government has launched the “I Work for Sindh” app, which will provide employment opportunities for unemployed young people.
SHARJEEL INAM MEMON concluded that all these projects are for the people of Karachi and they will be completed on time to ensure modern travel facilities for the city.
